Moissanite bridal jewellery FAQ

What is moissanite?
It is a silicon carbide gemstone. In nature it is extremely rare: it was discovered in 1893 by the French chemist Henri Moissan in a meteorite crater, and is named after him. The moissanite used in jewellery is created in a laboratory.

What is the difference between moissanite and diamond?
They are two different gemstones. Moissanite has a hardness of 9.25 on the Mohs scale (diamond is 10), so it stands up well to everyday wear. It has a higher refractive index and dispersion than diamond, which is why it is very brilliant and shows more coloured flashes, known as «fire». It costs a fraction of a diamond of similar size.

Why choose moissanite for a wedding?
Because it offers sparkle comparable to diamond at an accessible price, it is hard enough to wear every day, and it is lab-created, so it does not come from mining.

Why 925 silver?
925 silver, or sterling silver, contains 92.5% pure silver: it is the standard for silver jewellery, bright and well suited to setting a brilliant stone like moissanite.

Can the ring be made in my size?
Yes, moissanite rings are made to the bride's size. Tell us your size when you join the waiting list, or ask us how to measure it.

When will the collection be available?
The collection is in preparation and the first photos will be published very soon. Those on the waiting list will be the first to know.

How do I care for moissanite and silver jewellery?
Clean the stone with lukewarm water, mild soap and a soft brush. Polish the silver with a silver cloth; storing the piece in a closed pouch, away from humidity, perfume and chemicals, helps limit tarnishing.

Are other bridal personalisations available?
