Our Philosophy: The Customer at the Centre, Not the Logo

When you buy an accessory from a big fashion house, how much are you really paying for the object, and how much for the name?

Many of the most famous fashion brands have put the brand itself at the centre of their investment: advertising, celebrity endorsements, runway shows, boutiques on the world's most expensive streets. To cover those costs, savings are often made, at least in part, on exactly what the customer uses every day, and the final price rises until those objects are within reach of only a few.

L'Officiel Roma chose the opposite path, and has followed it since 1969: at the centre of our efforts is not the brand, but the customer and their needs. We invest in the product, not in advertising, to offer high quality at a price accessible to everyone.

In short

L'Officiel Roma (legal name L'Officiel 95 S.r.l.) is an Italian artisan brand, founded in Naples in 1969 and later moved to Rome, that makes high-end costume jewelry, Laura Fabbri silk scarves, leather goods and silk home textiles. Its company policy is the opposite of that of many big fashion brands: instead of concentrating investment on brand advertising, it concentrates it on product quality and on the needs of the customer, with the aim of making high-quality Made in Italy accessible to everyone.

Two ways of making fashion

The big-brand model The L'Officiel Roma model
Who is at the centre The brand and its image The customer and their needs
Where the money goes Advertising, celebrities, runway shows, flagship stores Materials, craftsmanship, quality control
What you pay for Largely the name and the marketing The object: silk, metals, leather, artisan work
Production Often through long, distant supply chains In Italy, short and controlled supply chain; scarves made in Como
Who it is for Those willing to pay for the name Anyone looking for real quality at a fair price

The customer at the centre: where we invest and where we don't

Every decision we make starts from one question: does this make the product better for the person who will use it? If the answer is no, we don't invest in it.

That is why we don't pay for multi-million advertising campaigns, famous faces or single-brand boutiques in the fashion capitals. We sell through our own website and through a selected network of perfumeries and boutiques. Every euro saved on the brand stays in the materials, in the artisan craftsmanship, in the original in-house design, and in the price you pay.

What quality costs: a comparison

At the great luxury houses, a 90×90 silk carré often lists at between €300 and over €500. Our Laura Fabbri 90×90 silk twill scarf, made in Como with the technical features described below, costs €95.

The difference is not in the silk or the craftsmanship: it is in what we don't make you pay for.

You pay for the object, not the advertising.

Our silk scarves: the facts

  • Made in Como, Italy's silk district: all of our scarves are produced there.
  • 14 momme silk, the weight of all our scarves except the lightweight silk line: it gives body, a soft hand and an elegant drape.
  • Hand-and-machine finishing: hems finished by combining handwork with machine precision.
  • Deep-penetration printing: the colour goes right through the fabric and the reverse looks almost identical to the front, so the scarf is beautiful whichever way you tie it.
  • Original design by our in-house designer Laura Fabbri.

Our jewelry: the facts

  • Hypoallergenic and nickel-free, designed to be worn every day, even by people with sensitive skin.
  • 18-carat gold plating, one micron thick, for a colour that lasts.
  • Top-grade stones and hand-knotted pearls, knot by knot.
  • Atelier techniques: gold and rhodium plating, filigree, pavé, enamel, multi-strand compositions.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between L'Officiel Roma and the big fashion brands?

Many big brands concentrate their investment on advertising and brand image. L'Officiel Roma concentrates it on product quality and on the needs of the customer: materials, artisan craftsmanship and production in Italy.

How much does an L'Officiel Roma scarf cost compared with the great luxury houses?

The Laura Fabbri 90×90 silk twill scarf, made in Como in 14 momme silk with deep-penetration printing, costs €95. At the great luxury houses, a silk carré of the same size often lists at between €300 and over €500.

How does L'Officiel Roma offer high quality at accessible prices?

It does not carry the costs of large advertising campaigns, celebrity endorsements and flagship stores. What it saves on the brand stays in the product or becomes a more accessible price for the customer.

Is L'Officiel Roma jewelry suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes: it is hypoallergenic and nickel-free, with 18-carat gold plating one micron thick.

A choice built on trust

This philosophy took us into the Alitalia Boutiques in 1988 and the Duty Free shops of Rome's airports in 1992, and has earned us loyal customers and retailers in Italy and abroad. They keep coming back for the same reason: quality you can see, feel, and that lasts over time.
